Job Summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for Network, Security and VPN of client networks. Further responsibilities include monitoring LAN/WAN network devices under direct supervision, helping ensure an optimized and stable network infrastructure.
Responsible for following established standards, commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the production envirionment while following the ITIL Framework.  The Network Engineer must meet high levels of service and support for the network infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Installs, configures and maintains organization’s LAN/WAN infrastructure objects, e.g. routers, switches and hubs.
Monitors routers and switches for bandwidth usage and throughput, reports information to team.
Installs, configures and maintains firewalls, intrusion detection network sensors and VPN.
Proactively researches, analyzes trends and recommends steps towards implementation of optimizing network infrastructure objects.
Participates in reviewing existing instructions, guidelines, standards and policies seeking continuous improvement.
Assists in developing instructions, guidelines, standards and /or policies. Seeks resolution to Tier III work orders escalated through the IT Support Process.
Develops and publishes monthly production statistics, as directed, to report on system performance.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish all work tasks and has a certain degree of creativity and latitude.  
Works within a team environment; typically with guidance from a senior network engineer, project lead or manager.

Education and Experience:
BA or BS Degree – Computer Information Management or related discipline required.
CCNA or CCNP Preferred
5 + years network experience 

Technical Knowledge: 
Demonstrates an expert level of Cisco operating systems for preferred switches and routers.
Demonstrates skills on use of network analysis tools (e.g. Sniffer, Fluke).
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Checkpoint firewalls.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the Cisco IOS/VPN/PIX.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of SNORT IDS.
Expert knowledge of TCP/IP

Good oral and written communications skills.
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Working Conditions:

Travel Requirements: 

10% Travel Time
